How to use Arrowroot Powder

There are multiple Arrowroot Powder powder uses – here are some of our favourite applications to try at home:

• Face Powder:  To create an oil-absorbing face powder, mix 1tbsp of Arrowroot Powder with 1tbsp of White Kaolin French Clay (and an optional drop of Lavender Essential Oil). Dust lightly across your face using a soft brush. Reapply throughout the day to keep feeling soft and oil-free.
• Natural Deodorant: Gently melt 2 tbsp Coconut Oil and 1tbsp Shea Butter. Remove from heat and stir in ¼ cup Arrowroot Powder, ¼ cup baking soda, and 12 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil. Mix well and empty into a small jar before allowing it to cool and solidify.
• Dry Shampoo: Give life to dull-looking hair without having to wash it. Combine 7 tbsp Arrowroot Powder with 4 tsp White Kaolin French Clay and 20 drops of your favourite Essential Oil (AWO recommends Tea Tree Oil for its antibacterial properties). Mix thoroughly and add to a spray bottle with enough water to easily spritz onto the hair roots and scalp.

Things to consider when using Arrowroot Powder

• While our grade of Arrowroot Powder is manufactured to food grade standards, AWO specialises in aromatherapy & skincare products - we do not hold food certification. For this reason, we advise against ingesting Arrowroot Powder or using it for food preparation purposes.
• Arrowroot Powder is typically gentle on the skin, but its absorbent nature may not suit those with very dry or sensitive skin. It is often well tolerated by oily or combination skin types, where it helps control excess oil and shine. As with any raw ingredient, always perform a patch test to ensure it suits your skin type.
