Uses And Benefits Of Lime Essential Oil

Originating in Southeast Asia, the beautifully refreshing citrus fruit was fast to gain momentum in the 10th century, appearing in Egypt and North Africa. However, it wasn’t until Christopher Columbus took these newly found citrus fruits on his second voyage in 1493 that they were introduced and began to be cultivated in the warm Caribbean climate.

Initially used by British explorers as a way of preventing scurvy, Lime Essential Oil is now highly valued for its high vitamin C content that makes it incredibly beneficial for a variety of complaints.

What Is Lime Essential Oil?

Carrying a refreshingly crisp, sweet, and citrus-fruity aroma, Lime Essential Oil is reminiscent of fresh limes. At AWO, we offer two variations of Lime Essential Oil, consisting of:

  • Lime Distilled Essential Oil: Lime Distilled Essential Oil is extracted via steam distillation. As a result, the oil is a clear colour and is known for its distinctively sweeter, lemon-lime aroma.
  • Lime Essential Oil: Lime Essential Oil uses the cold pressing extraction method. This gives it a green-golden colour and an aroma that is known to be far more ‘tart’.

Despite different extraction methods, the benefits of Lime Essential Oils are incredibly similar.

  • In line with the Therapeutic Goods Act, we do not recommend ingesting essential oils without the guidance of a registered Aromatherapist or Naturopath.
  • Avoid using Lime Essential Oils during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.
  • We recommend storing your Essential Oils in a cool, dry place at room temperature, ensuring that they are not directly exposed to sunlight and are out of reach of children or pets.
