If you’ve ever wondered what Cocoa Butter is made from, it derives from the seeds of the Cocoa/Cacao Tree (Theobroma cacao L.), which are roasted and pressed to make an oil. Also known as Cacao Beans, these seeds boast extensive nourishing, healing and moisturising properties and as such, have become a must have in many formulations – particularly those designed to target dry, cracked and damaged skin.

Gently refined to remove colour and odour, our pure solid quality butter in pellet form retains a slight cocoa aroma. It has a relatively low melting point, facilitating a smooth texture in formulations that absorb easily on contact with the skin.

How to use Cocoa Butter Pellets (Refined):

• Balm: Melt Refined Cocoa Butter Pellets with a blend of oils, like Fractionated Coconut Oil or Almond Oil, and some Shea Butter, then pour the mix into a small lip balm container and allow it to cool and solidify before use.
• Body Butter Bar: To create an instant on-the-go skin moisturiser, combine 2 tbsp Cocoa Butter Pellets with 2 tbsp each of Shea Butter and Sunflower Wax, plus a few drops of your favourite essential oils (we recommend Lavender or Carrot Seed). Melt, pour into silicone moulds and allow to harden before rubbing over the skin.
• Hand Moisturiser: To lock in moisture and improve hydration, melt 2 tbsp each of Cocoa Butter Pellets, Candelilla Wax and Avocado Oil. Remove from heat, add 5 drops of Chamomile Roman Essential Oil and stir well before pouring into small containers. Once cooled, apply to the hands as required – especially at bedtime.
