AWO’s Inhale Essential Oil blend includes some of our favourite essential oils that are known to combat persistent congestion and the heaviness of allergies. When inhaled, this blend works to relieve aches and sinus congestion. With a combination of Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, and Oregano Essential Oils, you will have everything you need when it comes to allergy season.

Dilution Guidelines

Due to their high concentration, it’s important to always apply a safe application of essential oils. When using essential oils for topical application, we recommend diluting your essential oils in a carrier oil. Some of our most popular carrier oils are:

  • Coconut Oil
  • Almond Oil
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Rosehip Oil
  • Unscented Massage Oil

If you have numerous allergies or are particularly sensitive when it comes to the skin, essential oils may trigger an allergic response. Therefore, we suggest doing a test patch on the skin before using essential oils. If you are particularly concerned, we recommend speaking with your doctor before you begin any essential oil treatment.

We also strongly advise against directly inhaling the vapor from an oil diffuser or steam dispenser as this can irritate the mucous membrane.

If your allergies persist over 48 hours, we recommend contacting your health provider.

Other Tips For Treating Allergies

Allergies can affect everyone differently, however, here are a few other ways to help treat allergies:

  • Nasal sprays
  • Air filters and dehumidifiers
  • Vitamin C
  • Antihistamines

Some people may react to essential oils so when using oils for the first time please use caution. Once you have diluted your essential oil in a carrier oil, apply a small test patch onto unbroken skin, such as your forearm. You should test each new essential oil, especially if you have previously had a reaction.

Essential Oil Safety

Whilst essential oils are natural products, they are extremely potent and can cause serious harm if used incorrectly. For this reason, we recommend the following:

  • In line with the Therapeutic Goods Act, we do not recommend ingesting essential oils without the guidance of a registered Aromatherapist or Naturopath.
  • Avoid using essential oils during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.
  • We recommend storing your essential oils in a cool, dry place at room temperature, ensuring that they are not directly exposed to sunlight and are out of reach of children or pets.
  • Essential oils can be very concentrated and are likely to cause irritation or reactions if applied directly to the skin. For this reason, it is important to first dilute your essential oils before using topically (on the skin). Our recommended dilution percentages can be found under the ‘Best Essential Oils For Allergies’ section.
