OLIVE SQUALANE

Olive Squalane – also known as Squalane Oil - is a high-purity, plant-derived lipid obtained through the hydrogenation of squalene sourced from olives (Olea europaea). This process creates a stable, skin-compatible ingredient that closely mimics the skin’s natural oils, allowing it to absorb effortlessly without leaving a greasy residue.

Renowned for its exceptional emollient properties, Olive Squalane helps to soften, smooth and condition the skin while supporting the skin barrier and reducing moisture loss. Its lightweight, non-comedogenic profile makes it suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and dehydrated skin.

Derived entirely from a renewable olive source and certified for its 100% olive origin, this clear, odourless oil offers a refined sensory experience, leaving the skin feeling silky, balanced and deeply nourished. Widely used in premium skincare formulations, Squalane Oil is valued for both its performance and its elegant finish.

Why choose Olive Squalane?

Olive Squalane - often referred to as squalane oil and sometimes misspelt as squaline or confused with squalene - is a lightweight, fast-absorbing emollient that mimics the skin’s natural oils.

Highly stable and non-comedogenic, it hydrates and softens the skin without a greasy feel, helping to support the skin barrier and maintain moisture balance.

How can I use Olive Squalane in DIY skincare?

Olive Squalane works well as a squalane facial oil or as a base in DIY formulations. It can be used on its own, blended with essential oils, or added to serums, creams and haircare products to boost hydration and improve texture.

What makes Squalane Oil special?

Squalane oil for skin is prized for its ability to mimic the skin’s natural oils, delivering lightweight hydration without clogging pores. It absorbs quickly, helps support the skin barrier and leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and balanced.

What is Squalane Oil made from?

Squalane oil is typically derived from plant-based sources such as olives, where natural squalene is hydrogenated to create a stable, long-lasting ingredient suitable for skincare use.

What’s the difference between squalane and squalene?

Squalane (with an “a”) is the stable, hydrogenated version used in skincare. Often referred to as squalane oil, it is lightweight, non-greasy and easily absorbed, making it ideal for hydrating and supporting the skin barrier.

Squalene (with an “e”) is a naturally occurring lipid found in the skin and in plant sources like olives, but it is unstable and prone to oxidation.
